Items Needed:                                                                        

  • Gift cards to local grocery store, Target or Costco
  • Breakfast and granola bars
  • Instant oatmeal
  • Coffee (ground for drip coffee maker)
  • Instant cocoa & cider
  • Tea
  • Peanut butter, jam, Nutella etc…
  • Maple syrup
  • Instant noodles in a cup
  • Soup that can be microwaved in container
  • Healthy drinks (water, vitamin drinks. crystal light etc… No soda or energy drinks please)
  • Chips and crackers
  • Nuts and trail mix
  • Dried mango and fruit leather
  • Disposable plates, bowls, cups & utensils
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Body soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste etc…
  • NEW socks and undies (Small-XL) for men or women

NEW BABY SITTING CLASS DATES:
February 9 & 10

Babysitting classes will be held right after school until 5 pm on Thursday, February 9th and until 4 pm on Friday, February 10th.  To sign up, contact Leslie Kahler.  Cost is $30 per student.  Deadline to sign up is Wednesday, February 8th.  A second session may be held April 3 &5.  Please indicate which session you prefer.



OFFICER TIME!

The Maywood Middle School PTSA Nominating Committee is looking for Maywood adults interested in holding a PTSA office next year or volunteering in another way

Maywood’s elected officers will include

  • President
  • Vice President (assist the president with projects)
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer.


Positions appointed by the president will be: up to two board member at large positions, Director of Communications (oversee the newsletter, web site and emails); Director of Fundraising (oversee Pass the Hat in the fall, a small fundraiser in the spring and help implement passive fundraisers) and Director of Volunteers (helps recruit volunteers).

Both the elected officers and the directors will make up the PTSA board. Board members are expected to attend one meeting per month (set at the board members’ convenience). There are also many committees and chair positions available – please don’t hesitate to let us know if you’d like to help. Many positions can be held jointly – so grab a friend and help out!

GOLDEN ACORN, EDUCATOR & OUTSTANDING ADVOCATE AWARDS

It is time to recognize volunteers who go above and beyond at our school. Is there someone you know who always is there to help – who makes putting kids and our schools first their mission? Nominees for these special awards are now being taken. Award categories include Golden Acorn, Outstanding Educator and Outstanding Advocate. Please click HERE to make a nomination. It is the mission of the Maywood PTSA to engage our students academically and to build a strong and supportive community.

MAYWOOD PTSA GOALS
1) To achieve 100% Membership

2) To improve/increase parent participation in PTSA sponsored programs and events

3) To reduce the use of paper by sending our information packet electronically and making it available on the Maywood PTSA website

4) To maintain a consistent number of Walk About volunteers throughout the school year

5) Increase “Pass the Hat” fundraising participation to offset the need for additional fundraising
